68th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament……See the Latest Results
The 68th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament officially kicked off today, June 8, in Morehead City. Fishing runs through June 13, with awards presented on June 14. More than 270 boats are competing for what organizers projected could be a purse exceeding $7 million.
Day 1 Highlights
According to tournament updates, Day 1 produced:
- 12 blue marlin releases
- 4 sailfish releases
- 1 white marlin release
No major blue marlin had been weighed at the time of the Day 1 release update, so the leaderboard remains focused on release points early in the tournament.
What Anglers Are Watching
The biggest story this week will be whether someone can bring a qualifying blue marlin to the scales. The tournament’s largest payouts are tied to the heaviest blue marlin categories, with individual prize levels reaching well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Tournament Schedule
- June 8–13: Six fishing days (teams choose two lay days)
- Daily weigh-ins: Begin around 4:00 PM at Big Rock Landing
- June 14: Awards Brunch and final payouts
Interesting Comparison
Last year’s tournament winner, BIG TROUBLE, captured the title with a 517.1-pound blue marlin, and the fleet recorded a tournament-record 420 billfish releases. That mark will be one of the benchmarks competitors are chasing this week.
For live standings throughout the week, the official tournament leaderboard is available at The Big Rock Tournament Leaderboard.
