How I Stay Sharp All Year….Bow Hunting
People often ask how I get ready for hunting season. My answer is simple: I never stop. Preparation isn’t something I do just before the opener, it’s a year-round commitment. If you keep your bow in your hand after big-game season ends, you can stay sharp through casual practice and small-game hunts.
One of the big advantages of shooting a traditional bow is arrow speed, or the lack of it. With a compound bow pushing 315 fps, hitting a pinecone with a judo point might send your arrow into oblivion. But with a slower stickbow, you can shoot at all sorts of random targets and rarely lose an arrow. That means more arrows flung and more fun doing
it.
